WE ARE PROUD TO OFFER BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT   

At Somerset Pediatric Group, we encourage and support breastfeeding. However, we believe the decision to breastfeed, or not, is personal and we will support your decision either way.  We acknowledge that breastfeeding for any amount of time has both emotional and medical benefits for mom and baby.  All of our physicians and nurses at Somerset Pediatric Group know how hard it can be for you and your baby when starting nursing and are happy to address any questions or concerns you may have. 

We are happy to share that our Nurse Practitioners, Tracy Agostino, Amanda Hansen and Nancy Salgado-Cowan are Board-Certified Lactation Consultants who are available to you for additional breastfeeding support. They offer one-on-one lactation consults in our Raritan, Hillsborough, Lebanon and Bedminster offices. We encourage breastfeeding mothers to schedule a lactation consult in the first week after discharge for early support, assistance or reassurance. 

An additional resource for breastfeeding is, La Leche League. La Leche League was founded to give information and encouragement, mainly through personal help, to all mothers who want to breastfeed their babies. The mission of La Leche League is to help mothers worldwide through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information sharing, education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother. Visit La Leche League for more information about breastfeeding.
